Fifty Shades Freed star Dakota Johnson admits sexy Jamie Dornan movies were ‘extreme’

FIFTY SHADES FREED star Dakota Johnson has described the erotic trilogy as “pretty extreme” - as she compared it to her new horror.

Suspiria is a deeply unsettling remake of a 70s cult classic; due for release in November.

It comes after Johnson’s star turn in the Fifty Shades films alongside Jamie Dornan - and they’re completely different kinds of attention-grabbing.

“On paper you might think Fifty Shades was pretty extreme, but there was something cosy about it,” she told AnOther.

“We made it edible for everyone.

“There is nothing cosy about Suspiria. It makes you feel very deeply uncomfortable, it’s unsettling and that feeling doesn’t go away quickly, it lingers.
“Perhaps a bit longer than welcome.”

Suspiria has had mixed reviews from critics thus far, but Johnson has stood by its divisive nature.

"It’s a true work of art on [director Luca Guadagnino's] part,” she told the Inquirer.

“I am thrilled to be a part of it. Of course, it’s nice to be involved in a film where everybody leaves the theatre happy, but then, do they go home and talk about it?"

She continued: "It’s a privilege to be involved in a film where people want to argue about what’s happening, because it’s really time for art to express the things that we need to express.

“People are ready for it. It’s an interesting moment, especially in cinema.

“And the fact that it’s a film with a cast of 40 women, but it is still controversial—perhaps we do need to focus on other things?"

Suspiria sees Johnson playing Susie Bannon, who travels to the Markos Dance Academy in Berlin, where she meets artistic director Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton) - who becomes fascinated with her dancing skills.

As students at the academy begin to disappear, Susie and her friend Sara (Mia Goth) begin to unravel some horrifying secrets.

It’s not the only movie the 28-year-old has on the way: she’s also in Bad Times at the El Royale; due for release next month.

Suspiria is out on November 11.
