HEARTBROKEN England fans drowned their sorrows after the Three Lions got knocked out of the World Cup last night by stripping off and jumping into canals.
More than 30million watched Gareth Southgate's men lose in extra-time last night - but the defeat still didn't stop people from letting their hair down.

Fans in Birmingham city centre stripped down to their underwear and jumped into the canal shortly after the devastating 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

One woman dried herself with an England flag and was comforted by a man after she ended up in the water.

She was one of a number of fans who were determined to not let the crushing defeat spoil their evening.
Other fans in the city climbed lampposts as traffic came to a halt just minutes after the semi-final clash.

Pubs up and down the country were full of optimistic England fans dreaming of the nation's first World Cup final since they last won the tournament in 1966.

But an injury-time winner from Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic broke the hearts of millions and sent Croatia through to their first World Cup final.
Fans spilled out into the streets up and down the country and there were chaotic scenes as fights broke out.

Supporters were seen brawling in Birmingham and Hull as intoxicated revellers continued to drink after the match.
But despite the loss, fans were quick to praise the young side which gave the nation so much hope and enjoyment this tournament.

@Reubendangerman tweeted: “Heartbroken but so proud of the team.”

@GirlCop_ added: “Oh England. You were by far the team who played with the most class, respect, enthusiasm and professionalism.

“I for one, think you are fantastic role models and a brilliant example for anyone with dreams and determination. Thank you for the run! Proud of you!” (The Sun UK)
