Margot Robbie can’t save wafer-thin ‘Terminal’

It’s a testament to Margot Robbie, the “I, Tonya” Oscar nominee who seems most at home in a maniacal grin, that this triple-crossing noir isn’t completely forgettable.

You can’t say the same of its plot, which intertwines vaguely Guy Ritchie-esque storylines about hit-man partners (Max Irons and Dexter Fletcher), a suicidal schoolteacher (Simon Pegg), a mysterious crime boss and an omnipresent, possibly bonkers waitress/stripper/assassin (Robbie).
But at least debut feature director Vaughn Stein gets an A for ambiance with the film’s handsome, neon-lit packaging. More perplexing than any of the supposed mysteries of “Terminal” is what Mike Myers, of all people, is doing here, playing a train-station janitor with a creepy “Danny Boy” whistle. Still, everything and everybody else just seems here to support Robbie: If nothing else, her performance here is a compelling argument for her to get that Harley Quinn stand-alone film made, already.
