Ex-NBA announcer gets jail for upskirt videos at church

A longtime former announcer for the Memphis Grizzlies will spend two months in jail for taking upskirt videos of several women at church, authorities said Tuesday.

Dwayne Rick Trotter, who worked as the voice of the NBA franchise from 2006 through 2016, also will serve four years of probation after his 60-day sentence at the Shelby County Penal Farm (Tenn.), Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weinrich said.
Trotter, 41, must also register as a non-violent sex offender and have no future contact with the women he admitted victimizing after pleading guilty to four misdemeanor counts of unlawfully photographing women beneath their skirts as he kneeled behind them at The Downtown Church in Memphis, where he served as a worship leader.

Trotter used his church-issued cellphone to take the videos, which were then downloaded to his church-issued laptop. The victims ranged in age from 29 to 63, and Trotter ultimately confessed to church and police officials, Weinrich said.

Calls seeking comment from the Memphis Grizzlies were not immediately returned Tuesday. Team officials cut ties with Trotter in August 2016 after a warrant was issued for his arrest on eight counts of photographing people without their consent, WMC-TV reports.

Church officials also cut ties with Trotter after his arrest, saying his termination was the result of “deception and moral failures of sexual nature,” according to a statement to the station.

“As you can imagine, this revelation has been deeply devastating to all of us,” the statement continued. “We, as elders, have come around his wife and children offering spiritual, emotional and financial support.” (New York Post)
