Cannes 2018: Marion Cotillard takes awkward tumble after suffering wardrobe malfunction

CANNES 2018 has already had its fair share of red carpet mishaps but now Marion Cotillard has become the latest victim at the festival as she arrived at a screening for her latest film.

Just hours after Cannes 2018 saw Dame Helen Mirren suffer an epic fall, the actress suffered a similar fate at the premiere of Angel Face outside the French resort’s Palais des Festivals.

The 42-year-old had turned heads for all the right reasons as she made her entrance in a stunning monochrome ensemble.

However, Marion was later pictured nearly falling to the ground but luckily was holding hands with her co-star Amelie Daure.
The movie star’s knee skimmed the ground as she luckily recovered from her slip in towering two-tone stilettos.

But, that wasn’t the only issue the French beauty had on the night, and it arguably could have been a lot worse.
Marion’s show-stopping earrings fell out as she posed for the world’s media, and it was when she leaning down to retrieve them that her problems arose.

Wearing her tresses in a neat up ‘do, the mother-of-two had looked stunning in a white jumpsuit, which highlighted her slender figure.
The movie favourite highlighted her trim waist with a black satin bow, while her sweetheart neckline also featured long, cut-out sleeves.

She was seen posing with Amelie, Ayline Aksoy-Etaix, Vanessa Filho and Alban Lenoir before heading inside.

Marion plays mother Marlene in Angel Face, who abandons her eight-year-old daughter after meeting a stranger in a nightclub.

Her outing came just hours after she joined the likes of Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek and Kristen Stewart to read a statement on the steps at the Girls Of The Sun screening.

They protested the lack of female filmmakers honoured throughout the history of the Cannes Film Festival.

Only 82 films in the official selection have been directed by women since its inception, whereas 1,645 films in the past 71 years have been directed by men.

The march was organised by French movement 5050x2020, which calls for gender equality and diversity in the French film industry.

The group, which also included Lea Seydoux, Patty Jenkins and Agnes Varda, posed holding hands.
Actress Cate, 48, commented: "We all face our own unique challenges but we stand together on these steps today as a symbol of our determination and commitment to progress.

"We are writers, we are producers, we are directors, actresses, cinematographers, talent agents, editors, distributors, sales agents and all of us are involved in the cinematic arts and we stand together in solidarity with women of all industries."

Meanwhile, Marion’s gaffes come after Helen Mirren took an almighty tumble and was left red-faced.
The Oscar winner face-planted the ground just moments after an interview in Cannes.

The 72-year-old left her shoe behind following a shocking fall on Martinez Beach, after earlier cutting a very chic figure in an eye-catching purple trench. (Express UK)
