Henry Of Super Junior-M Leaves SM Entertainment After 10 Years

The 'Monster' Singer Has Decided Not To Renew His Contract, Which Recently Expired, With the With The Agency.
Henry of Super Junior-M is leaving SM Entertainment after a decade. The 28-year-old Canadian singer's 10-year contract with the agency recently expired and he has decided not to renew it. SM Entertainment confirmed it on Monday, April 30, stating, "Henry's exclusive contract recently expired, and we have ended on good terms."
According to reports, Henry plans on establishing a one-man agency and continues his activities as a solo artist.

Born Henry Lau, the idol was recruited through the S.M. Entertainment Global Audition in Toronto, Ontario in 2006. The multi-talented star possesses a diverse repertoire of musical talents, being able to play the piano, violin and guitar as well as well-versed in different dance forms. He is also fluent in Mandarin, Korean, French and Cantonese.

Henry, who is of Hong Kong and Taiwanese descent, debuted as a member of Super Junior China sub-group, Super Junior-M in 2008. It consists of Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Choi Siwon, Lee Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, former member Han Geng and additional members Henry and Zhou Mi.

Initially, the formation of Super Junior-M sparked protest among fans, with some of them expressing their dissatisfaction with the new additions to Super Junior. The fans then purchased 58,206 shares of S.M. Entertainment in an attempt to prevent the company from adding new members and to keep Super Junior as only thirteen. Super Junior-M, however, later became Super Junior's most successful subgroup.

After a hiatus to study music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Henry returned as part of Super Junior-M with their 2013 studio album "Break Down". He also debuted as a solo artist with his first extended play "Trap" in June 2013.

The "Girlfriend" hitmaker has since been mainly involved in solo activities, appearing on Korean real-time military-variety show "Real Men", SBS' shows "Star King " and "Roommate" as well as "We Got Married". (AceShowbiz)
